After about 6 months of all talk and no action…I finally gave in! I said ‘bye-bye’ to my long locks and hello to this choppy shoulder length hair-do! If you’re wondering what exactly inspired me to finally take the ‘chop challenge,’ I am here to tell you that it was pure spontaneity. My hairdresser Briana Cisneros and I were hanging out at a hotel in Palm Springs for a shoot the following day in Joshua Tree — one thing led to another and, well, I think you know what happened next.

Nothing was more nerve-wracking than hearing the snip of the scissors, feeling the weight of my thick hair vanish, and seeing inches of hair dropping to the floor, but the only thing that was going through my mind was, “Hair grows back, right?” For the girls who have only had long hair all of their life (like me), then you probably know exactly what I’m talking about or can imagine the feeling. For everyone else, check out this video, shot by our amazing cinematographer Austin Steck, to see the entire thing go down!

And the verdict is… I absolutely love it! I’m so glad I went ahead and did it because it’s something I’ve always wanted to do, I’ve just never been able to get myself to actually do it. I would be lying if I didn’t say that I’m slightly surprised at my appearance every time I look in the mirror, but can you really blame me?
