Best Face Masks for Multitasking

10 / 20 / 16

With an almost 4-month-old, I’m beginning to discover how difficult it is to keep up with my own routines. Showering and running errands aren’t as daunting as they used to be, but my beauty routine has yet to go back to normal since our newest addition. I LOVE beauty. However, there isn’t enough time in the day to have a long, dragged out beauty routine, which is why I’m starting to keep tabs on products that work AND are good for multitasking.

I’m a sucker for face masks, but having to wash it off after 5-10 minutes doesn’t seem worth it. Still, face masks are a great way to combat beauty woes, and there are several products on the market that I’ve found are great for multitasking, meaning they have longer ‘wait’ periods than most.

All of the below face masks need at least 20 minutes to soak into your skin. Whether you’re caring for a hungry baby, cleaning the house, or lounging on the couch, these products will treat your skin while you work. So, here are 10 face masks for anyone who is a multi-tasker. Plus, all but one are under $50! Happy shopping:)

1. Mario Badescu Drying Mask | $18
2. Revitalift Intensive Overnight Mask | $24.99
3. Ibuki Beauty Sleeping Mask | $40
4. Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque | $4.49
5. Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Water-Full Hydrogel Mask | $9

8. Korress Wild Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Mask | $33
9. Tony Moly Tea Tree Face Mask Sheet | $7.50
10. Dermovia Lace Your Face ‘Brightening Bearberry’ Face Mask | $55

4 Makeup Looks For Summer

05 / 17 / 16

If you’re anything like me, then a light coat of makeup is your everyday routine. But, that doesn’t mean  I don’t love trying out new makeup looks on occasion. Plus, summer is the perfect time to experiment with your makeup! From hosting barbecues to long days spent at the beach, the upcoming season holds numerous opportunities to try out a whole new look.

For those of you who are feeling extra adventurous in the cosmetics department, you’ll love these makeup looks I’ve specially put together. Not only will these looks take your makeup game from amateur to eye-catching, but they are also super easy to do!

Here is a step-by-step guide that details 5 makeup looks I’m loving for summer:

Poolside

1. Poolside

Poolside makeup can be tricky, but there’s no reason to not feel glamorous while lounging around!

Step 1: I always make sure my manicure/pedicure situation is in check before heading poolside. One of my favorites for summer is OPI Nail Lacquer Collection — great selection of colors and doesn’t chip easily!

Step 2: Generously apply Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 to your face and neck for a combination of light coverage and protection from the sun.

Step 3: Apply a light coat of Urban Decay Ultra Waterproof Mascara to your eyelashes. The goal is to apply just enough to make your eyelashes appear darker, but not clumpy. If you’re feeling extra bold, add a thin line of colored eyeliner to your lower lash line. ULTA’s Automatic Eyeliner collection has some amazing colors for summer!

Step 4: Lastly, lightly apply Revlon Color Stay Lip Balm Stain to get color without the hassle of reapplying or smudging. And finish off with NYX Cosmetics Dewy Makeup Setting Spray for a fresh-faced look.

After Hours

2. After hours

Nighttime looks are all about the eyes, which is the main focus of this next look.

Step 1: Apply Tom Ford Cream and Powder Eyeshadow duo starting with the cream and finishing with the powder. Then add a light layer of one of Black Up’s Metallic Eyeshadows — The metallic copper red is one of my favorites to pair with the Tom Ford Eye Shadow

Step 2: Using Loreal’s Infallible Super Slim Liquid Eyeliner, draw a semi-thick line along your top lash line. Then, bolden your lashes by finishing with Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Action 4-in-1 Mascara

Step 3: I’m not one to contour on a daily basis, but I’ll sometimes use NYX Cosmetics Matte Bronzer to darken contoured areas — under my cheek bones,  on the sides of my nose, and around my face. Add Benefit’s Liquid Highlighter to your cheek bones and down the center of your nose to emphasize the bronzer.

Step 4: Finish off with Urban Decay ‘Revolution’ Lip Gloss for a bold look.

Weekend Getaway

3. Weekend Getaway

Weekend getaways are the perfect time to experiment with different, yet natural makeup looks.

Step 1: Using Tarte’s 4-in-1 Mascara, apply a generous amount to your top and bottom lashes. Unlike some of the other looks, this one calls for long, thick lashes. Next, outline your eyes with MAC Pro Longwear Eyeliner focusing on the bottom inner lash line.

Step 2: Apply NYX Cosmetics Ombre Blush by starting at your cheek and swiping up towards the hairline above your ear.

Step 3: Line your lips using Marc Jacobs Lip Liner Pencil before applying BareMinerals Buttercream Lip Gloss. Rub your lips together for an even application.

Step 4: Finish off by lightly dusting a Bronze Shimmer and Highlight Powder over your face for a glowing look.

Fourth of July

4. Red, White, and Blue

4th of July is right around the corner! What are your red, white and blue makeup goals?

Step 1: Lightly dust your eyelid with Make Up For Ever’s Eye Shadow in Poppy. With a fine brush, underline your lower lash line with Kat Von D’s Metal Crush Eyeshadow in Metallic Cobalt, then finish with a dab of Urban Decay’s Eye Shadow in Polyester Bride in the inner corner of your eyes.

Step 2: Generously apply Tarte’s 4-in-1 Mascara to your lashes and outline with MAC Pro Longwear Eyeliner.

Step 3: Accent your cheeks using the NYX Ombre Blush, then apply Benefit Liquid Highlighter where needed.

Step 4: Finish off with a bold lip — MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lip Color in Dance With Me has great lasting color.

Get Beachy Waves in Three Easy Steps

04 / 11 / 16

As you already know, my amazing hairstylist Briana Cisneros and I have been making a lot of changes to my hair within the past year. Dabbling with hair dye can be extremely damaging (especially for blondes!), which is why I’m always looking to use the most nourishing and hydrating hair products on the market!

I’ve tried out my fair share of formulas, and although I’ve been impressed with a few, nothing beats the MarulaOil styling and treatment collection by John Paul Mitchell Systems. Marula oil is harvested from a rare, exotic fruit from Africa and is full of powerful nutrients that do wonders on your hair! Not only does the entire MarulaOil collection smell amazing, but each product is free of harmful ingredients, so they are safe to use while pregnant.

The uses for these products are endless — I even use the MarulaOil Rare Oil Treatment Light on my belly — but since I always get asked about my hair, I thought I’d do a step-by-step tutorial (thanks to my hair guru Briana) on how to achieve beachy waves using my favorite MarulaOil products!

The Before:

MarulaOil Before

Step 1: With damp hair, spray MarulaOil Rare Oil Style Extending Primer starting at your roots and finish with your ends. This product will set up your hair for an all-day hold!

Step 2: Apply MarulaOil Rare Oil Styling Cream. Whereas the Primer creates a base for the styling process, the styling cream will help smooth, fight frizz, and seal split ends — a must when using heated appliances on your hair!

Step 3: Blow dry! As the products are activated by the heat of the blow dryer, you’ll instantly feel how silky and soft these products make your hair.

Step 4: Section off your hair and prepare for the curls!

Step 5: Next, start curling! Be sure to change the direction of each curl — wrap the piece around the barrel toward your face, then wrap the next piece away from your face and so on — to get a piecey look.  Also, don’t brush the curls out just yet! Letting your hair cool before brushing will produce the best results and allow for the MarulaOil products to work their magic.

Step 6: As you can see, the curls are set and cooled. Using your fingers, brush through the curls. Briana carefully takes each curl and separates it using her hands — this will create undone, tousled beach waves! Briana also used MarulaOil Rare Oil Treatment Light on my ends. Not only does it help nourish my ends, but it also helps  add some additional separation. Careful though — a little goes a long way, so don’t go overboard with this product!

(I use this product daily on my hair AND skin! It smells amazing and, unlike other oils, really helps hydrate your skin. The fact that it has no toxins is an added bonus!)

Step 7: Fluff your hair with your hands and piece it out. My hair likes to do what it wants, so we let it decide where it wanted to be parted, then used MarulaOil Rare Oil Perfecting Hairspray to finish it off and give it extra hold. Unlike other hairsprays, this hairspray will give you the hold you want without the weight or crunchiness of an extreme hold product.

The After:

These MarulaOil products have become my go-to when I want sexy and effortless looking hair. They’re easy to use, full of beneficial nutrients, and always produce the BEST results!

And, voila! Now you know my secret to shiny, soft, and beachy hair! Be sure to try out John Paul Mitchell System’s MarulaOil products for yourself — I’d love to know what you think. I have a feeling you won’t be disappointed!

8 Mom Tested, Pregnancy-Approved Beauty Products

04 / 08 / 16

Organic products have become my lifesaver since getting pregnant! I’ve always been pretty good at incorporating as many natural items into my skincare routine as possible, but now that my actions directly affect our baby girl, I’m not putting anything on my skin unless I know it’s made from organic ingredients and approved for pregnant women!

Screen Shot 2016-04-08 at 10.22.18 AM

Although there are several organic brands you can purchase at your local store, it’s hard to know if these products work effectively. A product can get advertised as much as it wants, but I’m not buying unless it’s been recommended to me by a legitimate source. Hey, I’m not taking any chances!

So, for anyone who is pregnant, health-conscious, or simply enjoys using the best products on the market, here are details on how I use 6 of my favorite organic products that are not only approved by the baby, but they have also been given the thumbs up from me, as well!

1. Mama Mio Tummy Rub Oil: Apply on midsection twice daily.

2. Coconut Oil: Rub all over body after showering. Some people aren’t a fan of the sticky feeling, but I don’t mind it:) I’ll also use it on my hair and as a mouthwash. It is rumored to whiten your teeth and get rid of toxins!

3. Nicole by OPI Nail Polish: Use as-needed. All the fun of getting a manicure, but it is free of harsh chemicals!

4. Jouve Dark Spot Corrector and Brightening Cream: Apply daily to reduce appearance of dark spots.

5. Beauty Facial Extreme Anti-Aging Resurfacing Peel Pads: Use weekly for a soft skin!

6. Shea Moisture Anti-Breakage Masque: Treat hair once or twice a week, as needed.

7. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen: SPF is a daily must!

8. Jane Iredale ‘Glow Time’ BB Cream: Apply when a full face of makeup seems too daunting, but you still want coverage.
